WHY SPEAK UP?
What will happen after I share my feelings?
After you share your feelings with a friend, family member or health professional, you will start to get help to cope with your thoughts and feelings. Not everyone who is thinking about suicide will need to go to the hospital. The most important thing you can do is share your feelings and thoughts with someone you trust so they can take steps to make sure you are safe.
Each individual takes a different road to recovery, but you may participate in individual or group therapy, support groups or school programs. You may also interact with different people like nurses, counselors and therapists on your road to recovery. All of these individuals care about what you are going through and are there to help. Don’t give up and don’t be afraid to tell others what you need – sometimes it takes a few tries to find someone you connect with.
